CSI at Techniquest

Yesterday we went to Techniquest and had a great time solving 2 mysteries. The first mystery was about finger prints, we looked at different finger prints - one was called the loop, another was a whorl and the last one is a bit less seen called an arch. We had to discover who killed the guy by matching up finger prints from a glass bottle of 2 suspects Dan and Aled. A piece of paper had there finger prints on. How we did this was with charcoal dust, that we painted on with a brush so that you could see the finger prints and then we put sellotape on the print then lifted it up gently, we then stuck it on a piece of paper to examine it closer up. At the end we figured out who killed the guy - it was Aled!

The stolen teddy

The second mystery was about a stolen teddy, we had different sections to the mystery, we started at one with footprints, where we had to figure out where the different people went.

The second one was really easy but clever - there was a blank piece of paper and you had some items to figure it out, there was 2 glow sticks, a torch and glow in the dark stars. You had to shine the torch on the paper to see the text, it said I have the bear call me L.

The next one was where you had to try different pens to see who wrote the note, by separating the colours out of the ink.

The next one was the hardest you had to identify fibres and match to the clothes.

Finally we had pictures of different finger prints on different items belonging to different people and we had to find out whose was on the display stand.

In the end Lee Biro owned up and we completed  our mission.

At the end of the session we looked at all the great science inventions in the main museum and had a go at building a tower.

We had a great day. I would like to go again.

Nerf bottle blitz

This is the Nerf bottle blitz. I got it a few days ago.
It can fire 6.5 meters long but runs out of water quickly, so you can add different sized bottles on to the back of the gun to make your ammo last longer. To fire it you pump the front forwards and backwards . I like the colour combination but I wish it came with a bigger bottle I still like it a lot

Any one up for a water fight !

loom bands

I have recently got into loom bands and started making them. The first one i made was a simple chain
I made one really long out of most of my bands that measured 9 Meters long.

The second one I made is a little it harder but it looks better this one is called fishtail.

As I got in to loom bands I thought I would try something more challenging on a loom
so I started to learn how to make dragon scale then starburst .

The fifth one I made is called inverted fishtail it looks like this.

I also created a custom one it is a mix between fishtail and inverted fishtail .

Hope you like my custom one .

Our day at Gawthorpe hall

Today we went to Gawthorpe hall. There were 3 people dressed up in civil war clothes. There were 3 different activities to do with the civil war. The first activity was loading a musket, we had a smaller replica of a musket and we had to load the gun the real way.

The next activity was a story of a civil war battle that we reenacted with different people from the royalists or the parliamentarians, and the parliamentarians won lead by Oliver Cromwell .

The last activity was figuring out a coded massage and making a sweet bag.

The Strongarm

This is the Nerf elite Strongarm .The Strongarm has 2 sling adapters, 1 sight, 6 darts and one rail. It also has a slam fire feature; how that works is you hold the trigger down and cock the gun.To reload the gun you press a button and push the barrel out then you can spin it round to put the darts in.

This gun is a weird size but very good I would rate it 7 out of 10

sand martins

Sand martins live in the edge of sand banks, they hide in little holes for there houses, then they make nests
and the female lays her eggs.

  #

They have migrated from Africa to England so today we went to Queens park and tried to spot them but couldn't find any but we did see lots more birds like Canadian geese and coots. We also saw a
swan marking its territory.
